Scientific Data & FIT Reviews
Since 2008 the FIT test has been recommended as a replacement for guaiac (Hemmocult®) cards, which the American College of Gastroenterology states should be abandoned as a method for CRC screening. The Fecal Immunochemical Test has been studied extensively over the last decade, and every major authoritative body recommends FIT as a Colon Cancer Screening Test. Physicians notably appreciate:
- Ease of Use
- Lack of Diet/Medicine Restrictions
- A Single Sample (vs. 2, or 3) with other tests
- Profitability From Performing the Test
Second Generation FIT® is designed to detect hemoglobin levels - a biomarker for Colorectal Cancer, Diverticulitis, Crohn's Disease, IBD and IBS - at 50 ng/mL in a spontaneously passed stool.
