Colon Cancer Kills
Colorectal cancer is the second most common cause of death among all cancer related deaths of men and women in the United States. One in 20 will be diagnosed with colon cancer in their lifetime. There are 150,000 new diagnoses of colon cancer and 50,000 deaths per year in the US. Remember that colon cancer is one of the most treatable, and indeed preventable cancers, if detected early. Colon and rectal cancers have a 95% survivability rate with early detection.
Getting Tested is Key
60 percent of all colon cancer related deaths can be prevented with regular screening, but two of every three people of screening age are not up-to-date with colon cancer screening. Colon Cancer screening is recommended beginning at age 45-50 in average risk persons, and 10 years earlier if you have a family history. Research shows an alarming number of younger persons being diagnosed with CRC, and we are working hard to understand why.
You Have Options
Screening guidelines and recommendations from every major authoritative body recommend colon cancer screening, and new guidelines and recommendations give no preference to colonoscopy over fecal immunochemical tests. After taking a fecal immunochemical test, you are considered screened for colon cancer. Positive results should be communicated to your doctor immediately, and with a negative result, your next step is to re-test in a calendar year.
To perform the test, unscrew the collection tube to expose the wand. Collect a small sample of fecal matter from your tissue paper, and insert the wand back into the tube. Unscrew the smaller cap and apply three drops of solution to the cassette (below). Results will appear in 1 to 3 minutes. The fecal immunochemical test is considered a preferred screening method for colorectal cancer detection by the U.S. Preventative Services Task Force, the National Colorectal Cancer Roundtable, the American College of Gastroenterology, the American Cancer Society, and the Center for Disease Control. ²
After applying your sample to the cassette, read your results within five (5) minutes . One line at the Control (C) region indicates a negative result, while one line at the Control (C) region and a line at the Test (T) region indicates a positive result. Positive results should always be followed up with a colonoscopy,
Second Generation FIT® is accurate, detecting globlin levels at 50 ng/mL (50 billionths of a gram) with 98% sensitivity and 96% specificity. The American College of Gastroenterology recommends a FIT test once per year, and recognizes the fecal immunochemical test as the number one alternative to colonoscopy.³ In fact, in a March 2019 clinical study, experts found that doing the FIT test every year is as accurate at detecting colorectal cancer as a colonoscopy every 10 years.⁴
Now you can use the same test as physicians do in the privacy of your home, quickly and accurately, without a prescription or seeing a doctor. Second Generation FIT® can be performed and resulted in five minutes or less. Get it now with free shipping.
